Downtown Hattiesburg and the City of Hattiesburg are hosting the biggest holiday bash of the year. Head down to the intersection of Front Street and Main Street in Hattiesburg on December 31st to party into 2023.
From 8 p.m. until 1 a.m., you can enjoy music, tasty food, hang out with all your friends, and even meet new ones. But that’s not all—at midnight, you will watch the Hub Sign drop with a fireworks show lighting up the sky.

Why the Hub Sign
So, what’s the story behind the Hub Sign? On Thanksgiving Day 1912, the Henry L. Doherty Company unveiled the original Hub Sign to the City of Hattiesburg. At the time, the sign was called the “Slogan Sign” before the Commercial Club selected the entry of “The Hub City.”
The sign was a tribute to the spirit of Hattiesburg’s people and the growth the city would continue to maintain.
The sign hung for several years before it was brought down for scrap metal during the Great Depression and World War II.
In 2018, Mayor Toby Barker gathered a team and began the discussion of bringing back the legacy of the Hub Sign. This led to the Hattiesburg New Year’s Eve “drop.”
On December 31, 2018, the first Midnight on Front Street took place, where thousands of people gathered around to ring in the new year and watch the pride of Hattiesburg light up and drop down.
This gathering is now a holiday tradition and has been running for five consecutive years.
